Researchers haven already proven that all nuts are beneficial to heart health, but recent research shows that pistachios may lower the risk of some cancers.
Phil Lempert, a food industry analyst, who worked on the study at the University of Texas, explained that gamma-tocopherol, a certain form of vitamin E found in pistachios, is what makes them so beneficial.
"After one month, the pistachio eaters had significantly higher levels of gamma-tocopherol in their blood as compared with the non-pistachio eaters," Lempert said. Furthermore, pistachios are great for the nervous system and protect the skin.
