Tesco to Leave the U.S. If It Fails to Make Profit

Tesco promised to abandon its American supermarket venture if it continues to disappoint.

"If we see there is no chance of success, we´ll do as we´ve just done in Japan. It is not about ego, we are businessmen," CEO Philip Clarke said at an annual shareholder meeting.

Last year its Fresh & Easy grocery chain racked up losses of $240 million, after losing $292.1 million in 2010.

sucks. They put the markets in the wrong area and their stuff is too expensive. They also do not have a lot of variety. They are like a high priced mini-mart.
