Alaska Experiences Second Gold Rush

Hundreds of people from all over the country are flocking to the shores of Nome, Alaska with the hope of finding gold, locals say.

The region is expected to experience a second gold rush. Since the beginning of the recession in 2008 the city has been preparing for the "influx of out-of-towners".

"I´m up here to have some fun, and If I find some gold, that will make it more pleasurable," Ken Scott from Thibodaux, La. said. The Nome Gold Rush brought prospectors to the region starting in the 1890s.

  didn´t they see the show

some tv show already did this with a group of people and they lost big time on that deal.. i think it was two or three families (only the adults; assuming they had kids) and they lost virtually everything they had left, as a result... the problem is you have to find atleast a half to a full pound of gold just to break even (even at $1500-1800 and ouces for gold) much less to get rich, esspecially when your dividing the take (its virtually impossible to do alone, not to mention very time and labor intensive... 99% of people would be better off working a dead end job or even playing the lottery (which much like brian in Family Guy said "its basically a tax on stupid people" )... or casino for that matter.
