One of the most famous buildings in the world, the clock tower in London often referred to as "Big Ben", is to be renamed "The Elizabeth Tower" in honor of the queen´s diamond jubilee.
The name change was proposed by Conservative Member of Parliament Tobias Ellwood. "I am extremely pleased that colleagues from across the House, both front and back bench, have supported this initiative," Ellwood explained.
The bell inside the tower will continue to be known colloquially as Big Ben.
