1,600 Workers Evacuated After Fire at N.J. Airport

A fire and an explosion at the William J. Hughes Technical Center at Atlantic City International Airport forced 1,600 workers out of the complex.

Some traffic flow systems were unavailable, but didn“t affect systems used to directly control air traffic. Traffic flow was moved to a backup system.

The technical error worsened a day of heavy delays and cancellations triggered by storms in the eastern United States.
