Hyundai Receives 20,000 Applications for 877 Jobs in Alabama Plant

More than 20,000 people have applied for 877 jobs at Hyundai´s Montgomery, Alabama plant after the automaker announced that it is adding a third shift there.

Hyundai offers production-line assembly jobs ($16.25 an hour) and maintenance positions ($22 an hour). The third shift will begin formal training in the summer with the goal of full three-shift production by Sept.

Montgomery´s umemployment stood at 6.7 percent in April. Hyundai is the fifth largest employer in the area.
