Chinese scientists from BGI made a significant breakthrough in animal cloning. Dr. Yutao Du says the world´s first transgenic sheep, Peng Peng, was born.
The sheep is the result of a new technique called Handmade Cloning (HMC) and appears to be healthy and develop normally.
"With each new species cloned, we learn more about the possible contribution of HMC to improve the health of animals and humans. I expect more breakthroughs on transgenic and cloned animal research in the foreseeable future," Dr. Du says.
