Obama: US Withdraws All Troops From Iraq by Year-End

President Barack Obama promised Friday that the U.S. will withdraw the remaining 40,000 U.S. forces in Iraq this year so that they will be able to celebrate Christmas with their families.

This decision, which Iraqi politician Ahmed Chalabi calls "a very wise move", is the official close to a eight-year-long war.

"Iraqi politicians can no longer expect the American safety net to contain their quarrels, and they must transcend being politicians to being statesmen, to deal with issues that they have to resolve without the American presence," Chalabi said.

Last time we took a no intervention stance and let a conflict work itself out, we lost Pearl Harbor..

  Withdraw troops to attack who?

No wonder the "Peace candidate" is now warning countries like Syria and Iran that they could be next. We actually will have the troops to attack them.

Actually if you study your history, we basically forced Japan to attack us.

Marine Major General Smedley Butler admitted to this as well.

  @ Questioning_Answers

People I know that are in the military. Sorry I don´t have a written source to point out. I´m sure some of the service members will be coming back as well.

  @theavenger8, @gbestwick

The last time we got involved in things, some guys flew some planes into the world trade center, and we know what happened next.

gbestwick, no, I do think a good thing is a good thing, but this sensationalised "Obama is bringing change" presentation of the facts belies the fact that as he removes those men and that money from Iraq, he´s simply deploying our money in some other hellhole.
