Biggest Cruise Ship Ever to Visit New Zealand Coming Next Year

In November 2012, the 3,840-passenger Voyager of the Seas, operated by Royal Carribean Cruises, will become the largest passenger ship ever to visit New Zealand. The behemoth will stop in Dunedin on Nov. 17 and visit the island nation five times.

On Feb. 27, the Voyager will visit along with the 2,000-passenger Sun Princess, expected to bring a record number of cruise passengers to Dunedin. The city´s tourism chief said international cruises are booming.

He said the industry was responding to demand by building ever-larger ships and said the Voyager´s arrival was an endorsement of the New Zealand travel market.
