Chinese High-Speed Train Starts Service

After official ceremonies, the Shanghai-Beijing high-speed rail line started operating on July 1st. The new line allows passengers to travel from Shanghai to Beijing (1,318 kilometers) in under 5 hours.

Back in December, the high-speed train broke world records, running 486.1 km/h.

Prices for a ride on the train start at RMB 410 for a second class ticket on the train running 250 km/h. A VIP ticket on the even faster train (300 km/h) costs RMB 1,750.
