Bin Laden Continued to Plot Against Americans, Diary Reveals

Hiding and with his terrorist organization taking a beating, Osama bin Laden continued to call on his followers to develop novel terror attacks, according to U.S. officials who have reviewed bin Laden´s diary and other recovered documents.

Among the terrorist leader´s ideas: striking smaller cities, target trains in addition to airplanes, and particularly, strive for high American death tolls in each attack. Bin Laden was involved in every major recent al-Qaeda plot.

These revelations shatter what had been the conventional wisdom on bin Laden -- that he was mainly a figurehead, and that his need to hide prevented him from being the operational leader of al-Qaeda.

  This Makes Bush´s Statement

All the worst, "I´m not concerned about Bin Laden," remember?

We sure had elected the wrong guy in 2000. Please Republicans, if you have to chose a president, how about a competent one?

Never forget -- Bush was not elected in 2000, and maybe not in 2004, either.

I am not an expert but I don´t think your accusation is true.

Bush was elected entirely legitimate at least in 2000.
The reason is simple: by law the American people do NOT elect their president.

What you call "presidential election" is just a non-binding opinion poll. The president is really only elected by approx. 500 Electors (Electoral college).

Even though it is tradition that the Electors vote according to the public opinion poll, law does not say they have to. So even if 100% of the population of a state "vote" Democrat, the Electors of that state can still decide to vote for the Republican candidate instead (and vice versa)

As far as I know, this is precisely what happened in 2000: even though Bush had significantly LESS "votes", the electors chose to ignore the public opinion and elect him anyways.

In the history this has happened 3 times - in ALL cases the public wanted the Democrat but the electors chose the Republican.

So one of the things Americans are so proud of (being able to elect their leaders because America is a democracy) is actually just an urban legend. By law, your ballot is worth nil in the presidential election.
