Bemidji´s sculpture walk in Minnesota has been host to a number of beautiful sculptures, and yet the city manager has deemed it appropriate to remove a beaver statue because some thought it was too suggestive.
The statue, which was painted with a scene, was found to be offensive when some people looked at it at the belly. Some saw female genitalia and some saw mother earth depicted.
City Manager John Chattin ordered the statue removed to appease the few and received a public outcry from those that liked the beaver, which was part of a series of nine statues. The scene was meant to be a woman´s praying hands, the artist said.
