No-Kilt Ruling at Alberta Graduation

A nineteen-year-old Alberta youth, Hamish Jacobs, has been denied permission to wear a kilt at the Raymond High School graduation in southern Alberta. His family immigrated from Perth in 1965 and is proud of their roots.

"I want to wear it out of respect for my ancestors, and because it´s just what Scottish people wear to formal things," says the young man who manages a Little Caesar´s Pizza.

The kilt was of the Forbes clan, which was his uncles. Much editorializing has been inspired by his plight. Pipers are often allowed to wear them. Thus far, Late Late Show´s Craig Furguson has not responded to inquiries.

  Double standards ...
If it was for so called religous reasons, like a Burka, then it would be a lawsuit.

damn the person who invented to suit.

  It is his ethnic right.
And you don´t wear underwear under a kilt.

  It´s Alberta..
Politically speaking, they´re the Texas of Canada so I´m not surprised in the least. Hell, Harper is from Alberta and he´s so conservative he probably believes fire should be outlawed and that women belong in the kitchen.

It´s like Access says, if it was a non-white tradition it would be an uproar. But hey, he´s just a priveleged white male, his culture and beliefs don´t matter.

It is as walter says. Kilt´s are meant for free-balling haha.

But that´s all true. Fire is dangerous & that´s why women evolved smaller they can get closer to the sink :). Ahahah, seriously though I love you ladies. Just a joke ;)

I am assuming this is High School?
do they not ware gowns or robes in Canada for this sort of thing, similar to a college graduation?
If so those things are pretty long i doubt anybody is going to notice.

Ladies? I´m not aware of having gone through any sex-change operations lately..

I was in a Scottish wedding last summer....
where all the guys were wearing kilts. It was hot and the guys were hot too. He should wear it and sue if they try to stop him. The Scottish Kilt is traditional and considered very formal wear and the real ones are very expensive. They are not cheap mini-skirts nor are they flamboyant or tacky. Someone needs to go back to school and get an education and it ain´t Hamish Jacobs.

No no, I was referring to any ladies on the thread that might be offended by my little joke ;)

The whole Clan pattern weave thing is a HOAX. I can understand honoring your heritage but forcing it on others is WRONG
