Man Tries to Eat Hornets´ Nest - Hornets Kill Man

Yi Pov, 40, decided to remove a hornet's nest near his home so that people walking close by wouldn't be in danger, and so that he could eat the hornets' nest.

While removing the nest Yi was stung between 10 and 20 times. He went home and went to bed in a lot of pain and died in his sleep. Yi's family thought he was only stung once or twice and didn't realize the extent of Yi's injuries.

This is the first instance of hornets killing a man in Baray district, Cambodia, but in September, a 9-year-old boy in Kampot province died after being stung over 30 times by hornets after a strong wind blew the nest out of the tree close to the boy.

I think he just forgot to smoke out the hornets first. In Africa when we wanted to go close to a bees nest we just smoke out the bees first.

Remember kids, before you attempt anything with dangerous animals or insects, you must first get them high.

After the inital tightening of my throat from the headline, I was wondering if he smoked them out. Then I thought maybe it wasn´t done there since I have been reading the summaries from you I have learned assume nothing on how anything is done differently. :-)

I am allergic to bees and wasps, I carry an epipen everywhere I go and taught the girls at a very early age what to do if I somehow couldn´t give myself the jab. I wonder if he even knew how many stings he had.

we are overlooking a much more serious issue here: Why would anyone eat a hornet´s nest?

I´ve been stung once by a hornet and that burned like crazy. I have no idea how anyone could be stung 10 times and even consider going to bed.

  even 1 sting can kill

I have seen someone get stung inside the throat, he was standing right next to me. Because a hornet was in his coke can. He almost died but a quick cut into this throat saved him because he could not breath. That was very scary, we all thought he would die in the next seconds but the emergency helicopter was there very fast and they saved him.

Just what I was thinking too!

I can understand why he´d want to get rid of it, but why would he want to eat it?
