Cambodians have dubbed Rochom P’ngieng the “jungle woman” after she was caught in 2007, naked and dirty, trying to steal food. She could only make "animal noises" and often would throw away her clothes and try to run back into the jungle.
In September, 2008, Rochom escaped back to the jungle, but occasionally emerged from the wild for food. Sal Lou claims to be the father of the jungle woman, saying that in 1989 she disappeared into the jungle when she was nine years old.
Sal Lou has recently appealed to public charities to pay for treatment for Rochom since she has not eaten in a month. Lou said that they always have to hold Rochom's hand or else she will take her clothes off and run back into the jungle.
