Ron Paul: Democrat With Banking Connections has Gutted H.R. 1207

Rep. Ron Paul, R.-Texas, accused Rep. Mel Watt, D.-North Carolina, of taking nearly all the transparency provisions out of H.R. 1207, the bill which was intended to require a full audit of the Federal Reserve and its activities.

Paul says that without such provisions, the bill is nearly worthless. Watt's home district includes the headquarters of Bank of America, and most of his campaign contributions have come from real estate, finance and insurance corporations.

Included among Watt's biggest donors are American Express, Wachovia, Bank of America and the American Bankers Association. More than a third of his total campaign treasury was donated by the financial industry. Paul intends to fight for the bill.

  Good
I got to say it, some of these dipshits are going to find themselves without jobs just like the R dipshits did in November last year. We were promised Transparency and we need to see, see a LOT more of it. So maybe the president or Biden needs to swoop down and put a little bug in his ear unless they want to lose more seats then they are seriously looking at right now.

Nobody is happy with the way things are right now and enough Dems are gonna be losing until things starts getting better.

  Not surprised
Doesn´t surprise me at all. The combination of "who funded my campaign and who will fund my re-election" added with core stubborn beliefs makes the U.S. house and senate the places where legislation don´t go to die, but go to mutate and become obsolete.

  I wouldn´t worry
Remember, Paul is going to re-introduce the original transparency provisions as an amendment, and the majority of the House has already signed on as co-sponsors (over 300) -- so I think this bill gets out of the House intact, regardless of Rep. Watt´s nefarious doings.

It´s the Senate I´m worried about. S. 604 has 30 co-sponsors; I´d like to see that number at least doubled.

  Rep. Watt
"Took one for the team", all cowards who fear the Federal Reserve and its Banking Industry friends. They´d rather your savings and investments take a big screwing over than have their massive profits be eaten into. Enjoy.
