Game of the Year Announced
 

Fallout 3 has been handed the prestigious title of being the Game of the Year at the gaming industry's night of nights, the Golden Joysticks. The show also went into the Guinness Book of Records this year, under the Most Popular Video Game Awards.

1.2 million people in the UK voted for the various different categories. LittleBigPlanet won family game of the year, but the big winner was the Call of Duty franchise, which won three awards.

Game publishers Activision Blizzard were awarded a top prize, going home with the Publisher of the Year Joystick. One organiser said: "Many of the winners... demonstrate that UK talent remains crucial to the success of this industry..."

Yes, it did, 31st October 2008. However I´m guessing it covers "the past year" which goes back to October 2008.

I find it amusing that GAME won retailer of the year though, as it pretty much is the only games-only retailer in the UK now, considering they bought out Electronics Boutique and Gamestation.

I really can´t think of many games that came out this year that didn´t suck. Batman and ghostbusters are the only ones I can think of that I liked, everything else was pretty terrible.

got that game (fallout 3 game of the year edition)

and the game announced racing game of the year; forza 3 (collector´s editions).

both are great games... in my opinion the best RPG and racing game.

I´m playing the Game of the Year edition DLC´s (after beating the main game in 80+) hours, and I can´t remember being this hooked on a game since god of war 2.

Waiting on COD 6 next week.

More people play solitare than world of warcraft. So by your theory Solitare should be game of the year then?
The award is for the best game, not the game that draws the most mind numbed zombie sheep to it.

there´s atleast 2 more fallout games coming out... fallout 4 and fallout online, made by seperate companies... it´s far from over.

elder scrolls 5 comes out next year... two of the rumored names of the game have been "Shadow Realm" and "Empire", they nothing´s offical yet aside from they´re shooting for some time next year as a release date.

i also have elder scrolls oblivion (game of the year edition) but i barely ever played that game, i like d the highly complex alchemy system, they need to expand on that and bring a more open ended version of that to the created weapons in fallout 3, turn it into an engineering system, rather than just 6 or 7 types of schematics.

Wouldn´t the Best Game draw the most people? My point was "The BEST" anything is kind of a stupid value system since there really is no answer. What´s the best car? Well a Formula 1 Race car is awesome for speed but sucks for passengers. It´s not very good for pulling stumps out of the ground either. See where I´m going with this?

How about some honest articles in magazines? "THEY PAID US TO PRINT THIS ARTICLE! BUY THIS STUFF!"
