Union Square, NYC. was set abuzz this weekend when a swarm bees spilled out into the streets. The hive was located inside the walls of a building between 4th Avenue and Irving Place, near the GameStop store located at 107 East 14th Street.
Employees at the GameStop closed the store with a sign that read "temporarily closed, due to bee infestation". The employees were trapped inside the store for over 2hrs. The news agency was given the run-around trying to call authorities for help.
Bee watcher Herman Leath said of the spectacle "It's just something I've never seen before...this is Manhattan, New York, I guess you could see anything."
NYPD's bee specialist arrived at the scene around 4pm and said clean up could take up to 2hrs.
