Panties Sent to Burma for Peace

Women around the world have launched an ambitious international program entitled 'Panties for Peace' in which they will send panties to Burmese embassies around the world.

The Burmese military junta is highly superstitious and believe any contact with women's underwear will take away their power, so hence the idea came to fruition to send a clear message to stop the abuse of Burmese women.

One Burmese activist said "I think (underwear) that has already been worn will be most effective to put them to shame." She also said she hopes Victoria Secret will get involved to increase awareness of the campaign.

  Haha

That's hilarious! I wonder how many of the recipients will be more than happy to receive some worn underwear though? I mean, some people have some strange fetishes and used underwear is definitely one of them!

I've got to say though... panties? Isn't that what 5-year-old American girls call their underwear? :-/

No, "panties" is the correct term in the US for womens' underwear bottoms no matter what age you are.

  after the last

summary posted that said something to the effect that the junta was alright with its citizens just eating frogs and fish, .. does anyone think that this might just rankle the junta... maybe make them more vindictive? make them more prone to pass more rules like 'let them eat frogs' or the like?

  Panties

I have 3 daughters and have had two wives and at no time have I heard them say that they couldn't find their panties. I think that's how men (at least in the US) like to think of them.

Maybe it's a regional thing like "pop" and "soda". I'm not sure I've ever heard them called anything but panties, except in a jokingly serious way.

I would stuff mine up their nose if it got them to take better care of their own people.

It is heart breaking seeing mothers and children split up just trying to leave that hell hole of a place.

  What a stupid sensationalist response

while not dealing with the underlying cause.

The original source was a blog which would have made this summary ineligible for hard news and thus the homepage. I have replaced the source so it can stay as hard news but the summary may not be an exact match for the new source. The summary was accurate to the old source so please don't rate poorly on any inconsistencies.
