The WHO and other international health organizations have been informed that pigs in the Guangdong Province have been dying in large numbers from an unexplained cause.
The Hong Kong media is awash with gory tales of pigs with blood pouring from their bodies, peasants selling sick pigs cheap and deceased pig carcasses floating down rivers. Doctors are begging China to share any information they might have.
The international health community is afraid China may be covering up an epidemic like they did with SARS. "They definitely need to tell the public but also people in the city as to the extent of the outbreak,” said Dr. Kwok Ka-ki.
