Hundreds Protest Afghani Apostate Release

As reported earlier on SN, Abdel Rahman an afghani man who converted to christianity 16 years ago was discovered recently by his family and charged with apostasy which carries the death sentence in Islam if he refuses to repent.

He was released when prosecutors declared him mentally unfit to withstand trial. Following his release On Monday, hundreds of clerics, students and others chanting "Death to Christians!" protested in Mazar-i-Sharif.

This put the president Karzai in a difficult position to appease the international comminuty or his senior clerics who have united to threaten to incite Afghans to kill Rahman if he is freed.

This is a quote from the judge:
"We are not against any particular religion in the world. But in Afghanistan, this sort of thing is against the law," the judge said. "It is an attack on Islam. ... The prosecutor is asking for the death penalty."

  Nothing like
a little old-fashioned intolerance.

"Were not againt any particular religion"
We are against all of them except Islam, You will just recieve a death sentance if your found not to be Islamic.
That should have been his next line everyone knows its what he meant.

We are supposed to make peace with, and be friendly and 'respect' a group of citizens that decree if you are not islamic you should die? Well survuval of the fittest then. Launch the first ICBM.

  Calm down guys....
It is not a personal thing... in islam (i am not muslim but have studied it) a person is allowed into the religion but not to stop being muslim. So it is not only in afghanistan.... this happens everywhere. the annoying thing is that the media made it worse. If the guy is not killed by family or friends, he will be killed by strangers as they know who he is and what he looks like!

how can they as people claim Islam is about peace
when all they do is preach hate onto others like the guy in this story who saw the light. In a country full of retards the only way to survive the madness is to convert and i must say Abdel Rahman made the right choice.

I am christian and i believe in it but christianity was not the most peaceful religion either... due to bureaucratics many have been killed in the name of christianity a century ago and even now! It is a bit too much to kill all converts (i might be wrong) but maybe islam is going through the same phase christianity was going through.

  of course they're protesting
This means they wont be able to do a country wide circle jerk to his execution, nothing extremist muslims like better than pleasuring themselves to execution videos, or live ones for that matter.

"but maybe islam is going through the same phase christianity was going through."

Usually women instigate the major changes in a society. In islam a woman inherits half the man and often less if she has no male children. In court her word is worth half a man. Until governments decide to ignore those 2 direct koran directives they will stay in their dark ages. And realistically speaking, what's wrong with the dark ages? the men are happy and the women don't know what they are missing.
