U.N. Accuses Assad of "Inhuman" Crimes, Gruesome Torture, Deaths

The United Nations Human Rights Council details in a new report how the Assad regime has executed, starved and tortured thousands of prisoners since the uprising against the Syrian government began in 2011.

Investigators say the regime repeatedly committed "crimes against humanity of extermination, murder, rape or other forms of sexual violence, torture, imprisonment, enforced disappearance and other inhuman acts".

The report also revealed that the government killed women and children - as young as seven - during interrogations.
