Adults Should be Checked for High Blood Pressure Regularly

The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force recommends screening for high blood pressure in healthy adults every three to five years.

According to the new guidelines by the USPSTF, high risk individuals should be screened every year. Dr. Mark Ebell of the University of Georgia and a member of the task force says under-diagnosis and under-treatment is a big concern.

"There are a lot of people out there who have high blood pressure who don´t know it or who have high blood pressure and it´s not being adequately treated," Ebell explains.
