A Hawaii woman in a wheelchair has filed a lawsuit against American Airlines after she says she was forced to crawl onto a plane.
Theresa Purcell says she informed the airline prior to her flight that she would need a wheelchair ramp to get on the plane. When she arrived at the gate, agents told her that they couldn’t set up a ramp shortly before the plane’s departure.
"I was humiliated. It was embarrassing to have 50-something people watch you crawl into a plane," she says. The airline has issued an apology but refused a request for compensation from Purcell’s lawyer.
