what happened to this place... used to be a lively place of intelligent dicussion... seems like shortnews got caught in a cold shower and suffered extreme shrinkage.
i´ve only seen three mainstay name´s since i´ve started checking back here and commenting again; did shortnews ban everyone or did they flock somewhere else?
for example, what happened to moment of clarity and valkerie, they use to be highly avid commenters and news contributors... and the thread section used to be many pages long in thread topics, many of which were serious topics?
what hapened in my absence?, are they all in 2012 bunkers without internet connections or something?
This place is not the same. It´s under new management. There are no volunteer admins anymore. They are paid German employees. The in-the-sewer political arguments drove most people away, also. Facebook has also killed the old style forums. IMO
thats a shame... political debate (as with religious debates) will always end up in the sewer irregardless of where they go...
and to this day i still can´t bring myself to use face book... for the same reason i don´t use myspace... myspace became cryspace... and there already too much drama in life for my tastes.

i don´t know, i kind of like this color scheme (usually i prefer darker colors/shades for themes; black, black-and-red, black-and-green)... its never changed in all the time i´ve been on SN both past and present (nor has the user interface/layout)... maybe its just nostalgia though.
What ever the color scheme or how well a site is represented. It appears to me right now that all communication on the internet is just dying. No-one seems to have the incentive anymore.
I left years ago because of the political "debates" which were little more than childish pissing contests and the petty admins who seemed more interested in big noting themselves.
I was also harassed and threatened by Captain Jane. But that was kind of erotic.
