By using social media students at the University of Chicago try to draw attention to unsanitary and unhealthy living conditions in their dorm. With its 52 years, Pierce hall is one of the oldest dorms on the campus.
One of the students, Michelle Rodriguez, describes the situation in a video. "In a 24-hour period, the plumbing exploded twice, and exploded with such force and severity that a toilet bowl … shattered, throwing porcelain shards across the bathroom."
She also reports unsanitary conditions and water outrages. A toilet explosion left her covered with excrement. According to school officials, the repairs of the dorm are planned for when the spring quarter begins late March.
